Dopium

Uncertain Times posted some great opium links yesterday as well as this image of Tintin chasing the tiger at Le Lotus Bleu opium den that I found absolutely charming.

Advertising that's in your face, but not for long.

I am often impressed and delighted by the skill of pavement artists. A lot of work goes into creating these drawings and, unlike many other art forms, it's gone before you know it. This one is a little different because it is an ad.

Street artist Kurt Wenner created at London's Waterloo Station a 3D illustration of an open vault with British notes fluttering out.
The work was for comparethemarket.com and the idea behind it, was to represent the GBP 16 million their customers have saved this year so far.

Plato's Cave

I remember studying this allegory about illusion and reality in an undergraduate philosophy course. I wish I'd been able to see this video at that time.
