Tintin Mural at Stockel Metro Station

The Adventures of Tintin Mural located inside the Stockel Metro Station is definitely one of most impressive of the city of Brussels. The sketches featuring all of the 140 characters of The Adventures of Tintin Comic Strip are displayed on both sides of the 135 meters long underground station’s wall. These were drawn by Hergé himself just before his death in 1983 and completed by the Studio Hergé and Bob de Moor for the opening of the Stockel station on August 31st, 1988. See all the panels

2009 Calendar - Tintin in Tibet

"Written in 1958 by Hergé, Tintin in Tibet was an introduction to Tibet's beauty, landscape and culture for millions of people. Tintin's journey over the Himalayas to Tibet mirrored the Dalai Lama's escape from Tibet the following year, in 1959.
In 2001, the Hergé Foundation blocked Chinese attempts to rewrite both Tintin's and Tibet's history by demanding the recall of a Chinese version printed in Beijing entitled "Tintin in China's Tibet." The book was eventually republished under its original title, Tintin in Tibet. "

Unfortunately this 2009 Australia Tibet Council calendar is sold out.

Spielberg confirmed Tintin director

Belgian artist Hergé, the pen name of Georges Remi, has sold more than 200 million copies of his 24 books, with translations published in more than 50 languages. He died in 1983, but would have been pleased at today's news. Spielberg reportedly tried to buy the rights to the Tintin stories shortly before the artist's death. But the film-maker would not confirm his participation as director, and Hergé promptly refused to sign the contract. Read more
