Re: the prostitute toolkit. Spoiler: In the pilot episode of Firefly, when Reavers threaten Serenity ("What happens if they take the ship?" "If they take the ship, they'll rape us to death, eat our flesh, and sew our skins into their clothing, and if we're lucky, they'll do it in that order."), Inara, alone in her boudoir/shuttleship, contemplates a syringe of black liquid in her toolkit. That's a drug that, injected into her, will kill anyone who rapes her. The series didn't last long enough for them to make the episode where she actually has to use it.
