At first glance this glowing star resembles a Christmas tree topper but it is actually the nervous system of a juvenile sea star (Patiria miniata) about 1 cm wide.. Taken by molecular biologist Laurent Formery, it was the winning image at the 2022 Evident Image of the Year awards.
