Radar used to map an ancient Roman city


Falerii Novi, a walled city spanning 30.5 hectares about 50 kilometres north of Rome, lies underground. For the first time researchers have used ground-penetrating radar to map the entire city, revealing highly detailed images. The study by a team from Cambridge University states that this type of survey has the potential to revolutionise archaeological studies of urban sites.
