Journey North, a project run by the University of Wisconsin-Madison Arboretum, maps the hummingbird northbound migration. In recent weeks the northernmost sighting was in Irmo, South Carolina. They're behind schedule compared to 2018. Last year at this point, they had made it as far as North Carolina.

Their migration seems impossible considering in cool weather they can lose 10% of their body weight overnight.
