Astolat Dollhouse Castle
The Astolat Dollhouse Castle costs more than many full-sized houses. The 800 pound, 9 foot tall museum-quality miniature house, with 29 rooms and a wizard’s tower, is priced at $8.5 million. The structure was inspired by the fantasy castle ‘Astolat’ in Tennyson’s poem Lady of the Shallot and took 13 years to complete (1974 - 1987). Miniature artist Elaine Diehl supervised the building the castle with the help of many artists from all over the world.
Why is this dollhouse so expensive? Approximately 30,000 high quality miniatures , made from real gold, sterling silver, and other exquisite materials like lapis lazuli, come with the house. The rooms are tastefully decorated with 10,000 of these pieces at any given time, including miniature furniture like tables, chairs, shelves, and vintage cots, miniature artwork and decor pieces, and lighting, all made by renowned artists from around the world.
