Scientists want to check heart rate, health and other penguin parameters but emperor penguins are shy and their heart rate goes up when people approach them making it difficult to collect accurate data.
Scientists and filmmakers, led by Yvon Le Maho of the University of Strasbourg in France, have created a remote control roving camera disguised as a chick to get close and personal with shy penguins in Adelie Land, Antarctica. The penguins are not intimidated by the cuddly rover, in fact they sang to it with a very special song like a trumpet.
