Garden at Dusk

  1. I love your yard! It looks like a shady paradise.

  2. There are shady spots along the edges and under the wisteria arbour but the sun beats down brutally on most of it. I've been working for 20+ years to create cool areas.

  3. Twenty years, huh ... hm. This is my third year with a new garden space that used to be a vegetable garden; all sun and wind. The photos of your garden set me a-dreamin' anew.

  4. It used to be a big square lawn with some shrubs, peonies and a couple of roses. I hate neat lines so I put three beds in the centre, added a deck, a patio and a whole whack of perennials, many of which are no longer with us. Only the toughest of them survived because I get pulled away from the garden for long periods, especially during election years. It's all about trial and error, filling in with hosta and shrubs and very selective photography.
