Dram In A Can?

The introduction of Scotch Whiskey in a $5.00 resealable can has me questioning whether the apocalypse can be far behind. But Chow's Supertaster, James Norton, sips a can of Scottish Spirits and judges it to be not all that ghastly:

The World's Hottest Vodka. Drink It If You Can.

The Naga Jolokia chilli is dangerously hot and can cause serious damage if ingested raw, but that didn’t stop a spirits company from mixing 18 kilograms of the fiery peppers with vodka, and creating one of the hottest drinks known to man – the Naga Chilli Vodka.

If you're in the mood to gamble with your life you can buy it here.

Mark Rothko-Inspired Cookies

I am a fan of Mark Rothko's art and I also like these sweet creations.

Mimi O. Chun, design director of General Assembly, recently created these Rothko-inspired cookies that have his signature "multiform" style (or blocks of varied colors).

Chicken and Waffle Wings

It’s no secret that chicken and waffles taste amazing together, but why should you have to deal with two foods sitting separately side by side when you can just combine them into one delicious handheld snack?

A Geologic Time Spiral Cake

I've been doing a lot of baking lately but I don't think I'd have the patience to construct a cake based on the geologic time spiral (image below)

Here's how it was done:

32 eggs
3kg of marzipan
7 people
30 hours
1 fantastic cake.

Bacon and Eggnog Cookies

What’s Christmas-y? Fruit cake…mint…eggnog…eggnog! Alright, booze in a cookie is a good start, but what goes with eggnog besides nothing? Hmmm, eggnog. What is nog anyway? Wait…nog…egg. What goes with eggs? Bacon!!! So Bacon and Eggnog Cookies were born.
These sound interesting.

The Cherpumple

Is there sugar in it? Then I like it! This creation is the sweet cousin of the more savory turducken.

Pastry chef David Lowery's Cherpumple (CHERry, PUMpkin, and apPLE pies stuffed inside a cake) weighed 21 lbs 10 oz. Not for those who don't like a heavy dessert after a big Thanksgiving dinner.

50 Breakfasts from Around the World

The HostelBookers Blog has posted the typical foods people in different countries eat to get their day started. Here are just a few:

22. A hearty Scottish breakfast - much like a full English and a full Irish, but the country’s USP is the ‘sumptuous’ slab of haggis served alongside every fat-fried egg. Don’t know what haggis is? Scroll down quick if your animal eating habits err on the queasy side. It’s sheep’s heart, liver and lungs minced with onion, oatmeal, suet, spices, salt and stock... Thenk ye david.nikonvscanon.

5. Quick Spanish breakfast – Pan a la Catalana, or Pan con Tomate, in Spain is simple but really delicious. Just rub some bread with fresh garlic and plenty of ripe tomato, then drizzle with olive oil and salt. Top with cheese, ham or sausage for an extra bit. Gracias jlatras.

32. An Egyptian breakfast - the breakfast of choice here is Foul Madamas. It’s made from fava beans, chickpeas, garlic and lemon. Above you’ll see the dish topped with olive oil, cayenne, tahini sauce, a hard boiled egg, and some diced green veggies. SaHHa goblinbox (queen of ad hoc bento)

50. A Turkish breakfast – the full Turkish treatment usually consists of a few varieties of cheese, butter, olives, eggs, tomatoes, cucumbers, jam, honey, and spicy meat. Tesekkür ederim pocketcultures.
