My direct ancestor Jean Trudel arrived from Parfondeval, France in 1655 as a settler in Quebec. On October 18, 1664, the first mass in the early settlement of L'Ange-Gardien (at the locality called le Caput on the Côte-de-Beaupré in Quebec) was celebrated inside his home by missionary priest Father Louis Ango des Maizerets and a monument to him now stands in L’Ange-Gardien. My father, Ernest André Trudel, had dug up our direct family line a very long time ago and about 15 years ago my two sisters and I did a road trip to see the monument. After a lot of driving we were able to find it (we thought it would be in the town but it’s on the highway). My sister, Kathleen Dawn, posted this photo on Facebook of the three of us there.
