The photo above is one of my favourite walking places. It is a former municipal landfill. When I began working for an MPP in 1990 one of the first constituent groups we met with was the Glenridge Landfill Liaison who told us about the toxic effluent from the landfill that was flooding their homes at the foot of the escarpment. The group drove the transformation of the problem-plagued landfill site into a setting for outdoor recreation and wildlife which opened in 2019. It’s a wonderful place to walk (it also hooks up to the Bruce Trail) and a testament to the power of citizen advocacy.

The Mob Museum in Downtown Las Vegas has a mission to advance the public understanding of organized crime’s history and has impact on American society.
