Toronto’s McLaughlin Planetarium Is No More

The iconic McLaughlin Planetarium was built two years before I moved to Toronto. It was fresh and modern and emblematic of a new era for the staid old city. I remember the psychedelic Laserium shows there in the 70s. Later I visited with my kids when it was a children’s museum. The beloved modernist landmark was closed by Conservative premier Mike Harris in 1995, has been abandoned since then and is now being demolished. It makes me sad.
