Sad Artwork of The Day

This print evokes the horrific loneliness of being the last of one’s species. I am posting it on Endangered Species Day to raise awareness of threatened and endangered species.

De-Extinction? The Tasmanian Tiger. A drypoint intaglio print by Faith Chevannes. Selected for the RA Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2025

(This film clip of Benjamin, the world’s last thylacine, pacing in its small cage on 7 September 1936 at the Hobart Zoo, Tasmania, Australia breaks my heart.)

  2. videos like this make me ashamed for our species and to be part of the human race that: first, wiped this animal off the face of the earth and second, we humans made this publicly tormented prison cell be the last remaining place & time on earth for this last remaining Tasmanian Tiger. At times, we certainly are a blight on this planet
