Swimming Pool Built by Child Labour

On the site of what was formerly an apple orchard in a suburb of Limerick City, Ireland, a group of children spent four months in 1967 digging the foundations for  their own swimming pool. A member of the parent’s committee, Alderman Patrick Kennedy of Limerick Corporation, acknowledged that the corporation failed the children by not providing enough facilities for them but said that no assistance is required from officialdom.
