Those are impressive machines. Yesterday I used a 1/4-horsepower bench grinder, rather than walk to the office for the pencil sharpener. The dollar store still sells pencils. And that last sentence is fun to say. When I was in fifth grade in 1968 a lovely young speech therapist cured my thick wet lisp, and I'm still enjoying the benefits.
My once lovely handwriting has deteriorated and I can barely decipher it anymore. I occasionally handwrite a grocery list with my one remaining pencil. When the lead wears down I might whittle it with a knife like my nana did. I probably won’t replace it.
