Amedeo Modigliani Moving His Studio, Paris, 1913

This relocation to rue Drancourt symbolizes Modigliani’s search for stability and personal growth and, despite enduring hardships, he continued to create his unique elongated style of portraiture. He became known as one of the School of Paris’s les maudits—the cursed—so named because of their impoverished, bohemian lifestyle. He died at just 35 years of age.
