Artworks Of The Day

Japanese Lady with a Fan by George Henry (1894)

George Henry was a member of The Glasgow Boys, a group of radical young painters in the late 1800s who were united by their disillusionment with academic art. I find his Japanese-influenced paintings particularly appealing.

1890s 'Two Geisha Girls' by George Henry (1858–1943)

These two paintings are housed at the Kelvingrove Museum in Glasgow and I gravitate to them whenever I visit the city.

You can watch a video about the Glasgow boys here.
