I'm pretty sure the ducks are involved in the process, in a kind of silent conversation with the dogs, and their own peer sense, though that doesn't make it any less interesting, nor the dogs less wonderful. Also, in my mind, I see this related to your post about George-Peter Land like when you hold your hands out in front of you, interleave the fingers, and then, with them still loosely interleaved, turn them palms down. It has something to do with the menace, and the running.
