Researchers at the University of Montreal have recorded the electrical activity in the brains of conscious cats for the first time. A graduate student with crocheting skills made little hats to hold the electrodes in place and to stop the kitties from chewing the wires. This technique opens new avenues for investigating chronic pain mechanisms and developing novel therapeutic strategies.
