I was watching this year’s Chelsea Flower Show on TV and was blown away by Heinrich Braun’s amazing living willow sculptures.

Here’s a video from last year’s show where he demonstrates how to make a small sculpture:

Those are fascinating. I went to the nursery site and saw all the designs. I was reminded often that they are all protected by Euro patents/copyrights/protections. I assume so you can't make and sell them at least under those names. Ha, If I put that much time and effort into it I certainly wouldn't sell it.
ReplyDeleteIt's a good example of how supple nature can be around obstructions.

I would love to have the huge vases as a focal point in my garden. So striking.
DeleteThe vases are a bad move unless planted in the ground. Too hard to move and have to be protected in winter plus fertilized several times a year in pots.
ReplyDeleteBut in the ground they are fine year round. I wasn't able to find out what kind of willows the use of the over 500 varieties.
