Motor City's Burning: Detroit from Motown to the Stooges (full documentary)
In the early '60s, Motown took black music to a white audience. In the late 60s the MC5 and the Stooges descended into the black inner city to create revolutionary rock expressing the rage of young white America. Mr. Nag grew up in Windsor, Ontario just across the river from Detroit and has early memories that were forged in the Motor City. While I was in Montreal listening to the 60s California sound on the radio, he was going over to Detroit with his buddies to see the Motown artists perform - he may have misbehaved. We’ve visited the city in recent years with our son who, through accident not design, now lives in Windsor and are heartened by the (limited) upswing the city has taken.
