Atget’s Paris

This video is a brilliant pairing of the photographs of Eugène Atget with the music of Wim Mertens (The Fosse). Atget was a French pioneer of street photography, documenting the architecture and street scenes of Paris in the early 1900s. For a decade I was utterly entranced by Paris and visited the city as often as I could. I sought out the parts of Paris that remained unchanged, using a book of Atget’s photographs for reference.
