The First Porsche Ever Built Was Abandoned For More than A Century

The “Egger-Lohner electric vehicle, C.2 Phaeton model” was the first Porsche ever made. Designed and built by Ferdinand Porsche himself in 1898, it could reach speeds of up to 22 miles per hour and had a range of up to 50 miles. In 2014, the P1 was discovered in a shed in Austria where it had been kept for more than a hundred years. The battery and seats were missing but the motor was still functional!

This piece of automotive history can now be viewed at the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart, Germany. Blue plastic seating has been inserted to give visitors a sense of the original configuration.
