The Nimble Pundit introduced me to Canadian seamster Vincent Briggs (aka The Prettiest Gentleman About Town) who does exquisite historic tailoring. In this post he demonstrates how he made an 1830s patchwork dressing gown, using almost 7000 pieces. The post includes an hour long video of the process that I found fascinating.
“I would get out the patchwork and plug away at it for several days, doing terrible damage to my already awful sleep schedule, and then I'd put it away again and forget about it for a month or several. One time I actually stayed up until sunrise working on it, but I was unemployed at the time so it was ok.”
