This bed and breakfast hotel is located in the Atlantic Ocean 32 miles (52 km) off the coast of North Carolina. It stands on four poles 135 feet (41 meters) above sea level. The lighthouse was constructed in 1964 to prevent ships from crashing into the shallow rocks of the Frying Pan Shoals off the coast of Bald Head Island and is also an education studies station and shelter for marine wildlife. It’s dangerous, hard to get to and the accommodations are bare bones . Would you want to stay there?
