Hot Air Balloon Festival photos captured on vintage camera

Simon Williams used a handheld Kodak Panoram 4D panoramic film camera to create a huge 12×4-inch negative. The 4D model was built circa 1920 and taken out of production shortly after.

He talks to PetaPixel about his process.

He lost me. He uses x-ray film that can be exposed on both sides, develops it, then take a picture of it on a light table with his digital camera. He does post processing in a couple of programs like Photoshop.
My understanding of a light table is a bright surface that shines up through what your working on, be it film negative or tracing paper, whatever. But if he has images on both sides he can’t be photographing with light coming through it, so I don’t see the point of the light table.
