Nunavut, Canada’s largest and northernmost territory, is getting an Inuit Heritage Centre that will promote awareness of Inuit culture and serve as a place for the preservation and celebration of Inuit heritage. Danish architectural firm Dorte Mandrup’s design for the building draws inspiration from the northern landscape and patterns formed in snowdrifts by the area's prevailing wind, kalutoqaniq, which has long served as a natural wayfinding system for Inuit.
