Leonora Carrington, Surrealist Painter

Yesterday Open Culture posted a lengthy piece on the fascinating life of the British surrealist painter who hung out with Max Ernst, Picasso, Marcel Duchamp and Andre Breton in Paris, and fled to Mexico City after WWII. In Mexico, she found a vibrant artistic community and remained there for the rest of her very long life. In the film below Carrington has a prickly conversation with a younger cousin who attempts to discuss her artistic inspiration.

Every housewife/homemaker is an artist/designer, a very challenging occupation.
