Smoke Trails is an intriguing multimedia project that portrays a fictional global industrial quadrillionaire family. Their objects have been 3D printed and displayed on a gallery wall and there is a VR-generated video tour of the family’s estate. There is also a fake auction (mocktion) catalogue of their collection. Set in the year 2068 it scrutinizes questionable wealth provenance and the development of the Capitalocene.
'From their exotic beginnings in the spice trade to the present day, the EoS family exemplifies fortune, wealth and influence in the manner reminiscent of, but surpassing at almost every level, the plutocrats of the last great Gilded Age.'
You can see the work at Collaborative Survival, an exhibition at 601 Artspace (88 Eldridge Street, Manhattan) through August 14.
Do explore the project at Glow's site and read more about it here.
