Utagawa Hiroshige (1797 – 1858), was a master of the Japanese ukiyo-e tradition. His Shadow Making woodblock prints were probably omocha-e (toy pictures). Some include written instructions on how to make the shadows move. (Minneapolis Institute of Arts)
