Forty players took part in the
World's Longest Hockey Game near Edmonton on Feb. 11. They played for 24 hours, seven days a week for cancer research.
Temperatures were a bone-chilling minus 40 and minus 67 Fahrenheit (minus 40, minus 55 Celsius). Pucks were shattered as players passed them along the boards, skate blades broke in half, pieces of masks fell off as glue let go and goalie pads cracked. The game lasted 252 hours. The final score was 2,649 to 2,528.
