I am captivated by Toronto artist
Richard Johnson's large format digital photographs of Canadian ice huts. In precolonial times, ice fishing was practiced for survival over the harsh winter months. Today, people enjoy a bit of camaraderie while hooking a few trout, yellow perch, or walleye. Some huts are pretty basic while others are brightly decorated. When I was a child they dotted the winter landscape in Quebec. They likely still do.
