Amphibious Gill Garment

Will climate change lead to a dystopian future where the Earth’s surface is covered in water? DLX Design Lab's AMPHIBIO 3D printed accessory works as a gill and may one day provide humans with an alternative way to breathe underwater.

Inspired by water diving insects, the prototype garment is made of a porous hydrophobic material which replenishes oxygen from the surrounding water and dissipates carbon dioxide in the system. It would allow the wearer to stay underwater longer than in free diving, but with less equipment than in scuba diving.
