Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, has received a lot of attention over the years for its unique and stunning Christmas trees and this year is no exception. The 2019 tree was lit up yesterday. It is decorated to resemble the 14-15th century Queen figure from the game of chess, which was found by archaeologists in 2007.

No trees were cut for this spectacle. It is actually a 27-meter tall metal construction bearing 6,000 branches that were gathered during regular forest maintenance.
