Toki Pona is a constructed language invented in 2001 by Toronto translator Sonja Elen Kisa who was attempting to "understand the meaning of life in 120 words". Her aim was to make the language as simple as possible and the core vocabulary has only 120–125 root words and 14 phonemes.
