Photographs of Shipwrecks on the Cornish Coast (1872 - 1997)

Over a period of 125 years four generations of the Gibson family photographed over 200 wrecks along the coasts of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly in south England. In 2013 the Royal Museums Greenwich bought the family’s collection of photos of ships, heroic rescues, survivors, burials and salvage scenes for £122,500.
