The Green Sweater
The handknit green sweater (above left) was worn by eight year old Krystyna Chiger in the Lvov sewer for 14 months as she and her surviving family hid in the sewers to escape Nazi persecution after the liquidation of the Lvov ghetto. When Lea Stern saw it on display at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in 2003 she knew that people would be fascinated by Krystyna's story and might want to reproduce the sweater. There was no existing pattern so Lea recreated the pattern with as much historical accuracy as possible. All proceeds from the purchase of this pattern go to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.
