Inside the Terror

In 1845 HMS Terror, along with HMS Erebus, set sail from England in an expedition led by Sir John Franklin in search of the elusive Northwest Passage. The ships were stranded in the ice off King William Island in September of 1846 and the crew abandoned both vessels. Sir John Franklin and his 128 men all died.
Now Parks Canada has released the first film taken inside of the wreck of the HMS Terror, providing high-definition video of the cabins and the astonishingly well-preserved artifacts still in place.
