Fort Bourtange Netherlands

Star forts were designed to provide optimal views and effective protection from threats. These five-sided structures originated in Italy and spread to the Groningen region of the Netherlands, where the Bourtange star fort was constructed in 1593.
I probably won't get to see this while I'm in the Netherlands but I love the brilliant design.
