Shhh, Don't Tell The Kids!
Archeologists think they may have found the grave of Santa Claus! Saint Nicholas, the inspiration for Santa Claus, is believed to have been buried at the church that was named after him in Antalya, Turkey. An earthquake damaged the church and St. Nick's sarcophagus. A story says that Italian merchants stole his bones during the first crusade in 1087 and brought to the Basilica of Saint Nicholas in Bari, Italy where they remain.
However, an elaborate tomb was discovered beneath the St. Nicholas Church in Turkey and digital surveys show that the medieval grave robbers may have mistakenly grabbed the wrong bones, making it possible that the real St. Nick is still underground.
