John Lennon and Paul McCartney first met at a church fete in 1957. In the churchyard lay the grave of scullery maid Eleanor Rigby, who had died, aged 44, in 1939.
Nine years later, McCartney wrote a song about Eleanor Rigby who "died in the church and was buried along with her name". But was there really a connection between the Eleanor Rigby in the cemetery and the sad lonely life of the woman in McCartney's song?
The deeds to the grave are part of a sale which also features
other Beatles memorabilia and are listed with a guide price of £4,000.
