2,000 Years of Dogs in Art

We love our canine friends and have recreated them in various art forms over the centuries, from ancient mosaics to today's Instagram selfies.
A dog mosaic was found in ancient Pompeii. The words at the bottom,
Cave Canem, translate to “beware of the dog.”

“Still Life with Three Puppies” by Paul Gauguin, 1888.
