Douglas Gordon and Morgane Tschiember created a large scale, site-specific sculpture in Gstaad, Switzerland that was inspired by the works of American novelist Jack London.
‘As close as you can...’ is an artwork made using fire, smoke and sound. Tschiember built an enormous circular fire, key to survival in the wild landscape. Gordon has installed a sound piece based on our primal fears of unknown animals lurking in the dark woods, driving visitors towards the ‘safety’ of the fire.
