Models at Mali's annual Festi’Bazin, held in late October, strut the catwalk in crimson, indigo and neon green. The festival is devoted to bazin, a polished cotton fabric with a distinctive sheen, worn at most formal occasions. Mali produces the finest dyed brocade in the world and the dyeing and brocade-working sector employs an estimated 250,000 people in the capital, Bamako.
