Italian Renaissance Style House - Francis Pierpont Davis - 1916 California Architecture

My house, built the same year as this one, has the same centre hall layout but is most definitely Canadian and lacks the grandeur and ornate detail  of this lovely house.

"This house, designed in the style of the Italian Renaissance period, possessing unusual architectural merit, impresses one with its refined dignity. The doorway and windows are very beautiful in their detail and proportions. Opportunity is offered for a beautiful garden in the rear."

This was designed as a grand house with a price to match. In 1916, the estimated cost to build would have been between $7600 and $8500.
