Google's Project Sunroof uses information that’s in Google Maps to figure out how much sun falls on your roof, taking into account the angle of the roof, the weather, and obstructions like trees and chimneys. It then provides all the info you need to get started on your own panels, including sending your estimate to local installers. It's kind of a treasure map of solar energy.
