The real name for the place that inspired John Lennon’s song comes without an ‘s’. Strawberry Field was a Salvation Army children’s home in the Liverpool suburb of Woolton. John grew up near the home and one of his childhood treats was the garden party that took place each summer on the grounds of Strawberry Field.
