Maude Barlow of the
Council of Canadians led a group of activists to Detroit to protest water shutoffs in Detroit, They brought 750 gallons of water to help those who have been cut off because of unpaid bills. The seven-vehicle convoy also delivered a message that the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department's policy of shutting off service to delinquent customers violates the United Nations' 2010 declaration that water is a human right.
