The Fallen at Arromanches

I posted this project last year but it is worth taking another look on the 70th anniversary of the Normandy invasion with the addition of a trailer for the new documentary.

Seventy years ago today the D-Day landings began, and nine thousand soldiers and civilians died.  The Fallen 9000 by sand sculpture artists Jamie Wardley and Andy Moss shows silhouettes of the dead etched onto the beach at Arromanches.

The project was done for Peace Day in September 2013 with the help of hundreds of international volunteers.

A documentary is in production and this is an early teaser to commemorate 70 years since the Normandy beach landings of 1944.
